10-Year New Racer Repeal Rule

Only Adult Racers Prior to 2020 are Eligible For Priority 10-Year Status

The 10-Year New Racer Repeal Rule was approved by the Mount Marathon Race Committee in February 2020 and announced before registration began that year.

It states that only adult racers prior to 2020 are eligible to earn Priority 10-Year Status. Previously called Veteran Status, this rule grants priority registration to those who have completed 10 or more races.

  • Those who have completed an adult race within the cutoff time prior to 2020 remain eligible for Priority 10-Year Status.
  • Those who have already earned Priority 10-Year Status will keep their priority registration.
  • This change is expected to begin increasing lottery selection odds — since fewer racers with 10-year status will be eligible to claim spots in the future and others will not return for 10 straight years without the possible of achieving 10-Year Status.
